Captain Kid, a Parisian, has released his first album 67 songs on Discograph label. The album is beautifully sculptured pop, hewn by an architect of sound, Julien Ribot.
Stage whisper is a hybrid album gathering eight new songs and ten live recordings by Charlotte Gainsbourg. The Anglo-French singer has invited several of the best contemporary English-speaking composers to put together a little gem of pop that also displays the singer’s talent for some sparkling live performance.
Getting his teeth into Gainsbourg was a dream Bashung nurtured for a long time and finally fulfilled thanks to choreograph Jean-Claude Gallota. The singer, who was due to perform on stage surrounded by dancers in the ballet L'homme à tête de chou, lived to see his interpretation of Gainsbourg’s 1976 album released on CD. The "Gainshung" version of Marilou is a sublimely heady number.
There are times when you need a helping hand to reach a new milestone. To put together his fourth album, Nimissa, Guinean singer and musician Ba Cissoko was assisted by reputed producer Philippe Eidel, who has managed to draw out each song’s potential and assure some ship-shape production.
