Maxime Le Forestier is an artist who has ignored passing fads and musical fashions and remained faithful to his own sound. His albums may have crested on a wave of success or fallen into forgetfulness, but that has not affected his output which has remained intensely authentic and personal. Le Forestier started out as an outspoken protest singer in the early 70s, but three decades on, he appears to have mellowed with age. Singing with the simple accompaniment of his guitar, like his role model, the late great ‘chanson’ idol Georges Brassens, Le Forestier is one of the most genuine voices on the French music scene.
