Jacques Dutronc
Apart from Jacques Dutronc and Yves Montand, few French artists have achieved the remarkable feat of pursuing a parallel career on the music scene and in the film world - and making an incredible success of both careers ! Dutronc earnt a formidable reputation on the French music scene in the 1960's with his nonchalant playboy image and his legendary irony, scoring an enormous hit with "Il est cinq heures, Paris s'éveille" (a song which was recently voted the best French song of the last 50 years !) The multi-talented Dutronc then went on to launch a successful career in the film world, his brilliant portrayal of the tortured painter Van Gogh earning him a César award for Best Actor of the Year in 1992. These days Dutronc appears content to lead a quiet life far from the glare of the media spotlights. However, he does re-emerge on the French music scene from time to time, perfoming extremely popular comeback tours - much to the delight of thousands of committed Dutronc fans !
